Throughout my term it has been my mission to lead by example to further inspire and enrich the lives of our youth while weaving the thread of sacred music within their hearts and homes. Education in its entirety, whether it be for K-12, college, university, or self-improvement is essential to the development and advancement of our lives. It helps further our understanding and expectations of how we live life and give back to ensure that others will also experience these opportunities. If history has taught us anything, it is to preserve and cherish moments to help further pass them down. Education is key to the survival of our Armenian Apostolic Church and to our AACCWD.

Two years ago, with the help of Ms. Gail Chelebian (CEC Chair), we launched a comprehensive digital music curriculum for all the students within our Diocese. Our curriculum has since been utilized in Canada, Europe, Russia, South America, Australia, and the United States. The videos are succinct yet age-appropriate learning tools to help further understand and learn the hymns of our Divine Liturgy. In our continual mission to help further our educational services, we’ve held workshops, classes, and “teach the teacher” trainings to help advance their delivery methods for our children.

The time has come to put their education into practice and the it is now your responsibility to do so in each parish. On March 1, 2019, I will be launching a digital instructional guide on how to form, teach, engage, and sustain a junior choir. This guide will provide a comprehensive instructional toolkit as how to take the core fundamentals of our existing educational services and couple them with the physical resources at each parish to further sustain our church choirs all while ensuring proper succession planning.  Our churches are home to a religious, musical, and educational platform that can offer infinite possibilities if we all collectively empower our youth and ourselves to work together through the grace of the Almighty.

As our 2019 Convention & Assembly approaches in November, I look forward to working closely with all our parishes as I close out my term as your chairman. Let us make 2019 another successful year where our tenacity for enriching the lives of our youth and our penchant love for sacred music helps further our youth and our Armenian Apostolic Church.

Finally, as we have undergone transformative changes since the creation of our organization, it is only appropriate to have a symbol that better represents the bright and colourful changes that music has brought to our hearts and souls. I am proud to unveil our new AACCWD logo and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.

Regards,
